Well, there’s really nothing wrong or bad with the suburb, actually I think it is the tidiest suburb I’ve ever been to here in Melbourne 4 hazel street camberwell free if your neighbours were these kind of women and rfee non-anglo and even non-white, expect to receive hostile stares often! The suburb offers excellent amenities, restaurants, transport, many recreation facilities and parks, large blocks, a wide selection of high performing schools, any shopping option you could ever want, 4 hazel street camberwell free quick access to the city, great resell value, жмите streets and a great neighbourly spirit. However, we found that when we liked a house and canberwell, we didn’t like the street and lack of transport and lacks of shops nearby. It is mainly populated by crusty old cardigan wearing anglosaxons and seriously lacks in good restaurants and cafes, is full of garbage overpriced shops, lacks in ethnic diversity, class and has an overall dull vibe. Because of tranquility and peace, Camberwell is a very family-friendly environment with many nice and welcoming people.

Although its very dear to live in Camberwell, its well worth the price to live there! The Camberwell property market is flourishing, and for very good reason! Camberwell has all the qualities that most family could ever want in a suburb – every facility at your doorstep. The streets are beautiful and tree-lined with a mixture of beautiful heritage and modern contemporary homes.

Camberwell has become a highly sought after location, and for very good reasons. Offering residents some of the best Private and Public schools in Victoria, the suburb offers excellent amenities, restaurants, transport, many recreation facilities and parks, large blocks of land compared to many other suburbs, a vast variety of shopping options, easy access to the CBD, great resell value, safe streets and a great neighbourly spirit.

It is fair to say that I am yet to see another suburb offering the same style, heritage and tranquillity that Camberwell does, without compromising any desirable modern amenities.

My family have lived in Camberwell as well as the surrounding suburbs for many years. Camberwell is quite a big suburb and some areas are more attractive – eg. Hawthorn is better than Camberwell in terms of urban feel, ethnic diversity and interesting food options. However it’s more congested than Camberwell with tight blocks and little parking.

Some people find Canterbury quaint but it doesn’t have enough diversity for me and can feel quite conservative. I think Camberwell has a lot going for it. It’s very green with great options for activity – walking, bike-riding etc. Easy public transport – trains, trams, quick to city. Good quality fruit, veg and deli. People take pride in maintaining their pretty houses and gardens.

Contrary to other opinions, I find people friendly and easy going. It can feel a little remote from the ‘real world’ at times but mostly I just enjoy the quiet calm atmosphere. Have lived in Camberwell for about 6 years and when we originally moved here it was a pleasant place to be.

The streets are wide and graceful with beautiful tree cover and some gorgeous, federation style architecture and large blocks. It is also generally safe, although we were broken into 3 times. As a downside, there is a very poor community feel in this suburb and the general look of the streets are being destroyed by massive McMansions that overwhelm each block and live being iron gates.

A large proportion of the population of Boroondara city is now made up of disparate foreign nationals. While there is nothing wrong with this per se, it does mean many of the houses are left vacant, or held by foreigners who have little interest in adding to or building the broader community spirit.

You end up with a suburb of people living behind their fences, rarely talking, having little community participation and only being in the suburb because it has the right postcode. Transport options are fairly ordinary. The tram takes an age to get to the city and the train station sits far away from where most of the homes are and charges a fortune for parking.

Shopping wise is OK with Burke Road, but this is known as one of the most congested streets in Melbourne and is a nightmare to drive down. This is a place to live if you want to board yourself up in your McMansion and flash your postcode around to your friends. As a place to live and raise a young family, it leaves a lot to be desired.

Public transport is excellent. Which other suburb has so many train stations within walking distance to most houses? In 10 years time with the explosion in population, you will NOT be able to drive around comfortably.

So living in Kew just because it is kms from the CBD holds no water. It used to take me 1 hour in , in 10 years time make that 2 hours. While buying a house can be an expensive prospect, renting is still very affordable. Anniversary trail along Fordham Avenue that you won’t mission having a large backyard. To sum up, Camberwell is a safe suburb, lots of shopping and places to eat, excellent transport options, choice of good primary and secondary schools, parks and reserves Frog Hollow, Fordham gardens, Highfield, Lynden, Willison, Wattlepark and more.

I have lived in many suburbs in Melbourne both east and west. I believe that Camberwell is definitely one of the friendliest suburbs. The shopping is fantastic too – absolutely love the Sunday market and the Camberwell food market is fabulous too. The whole suburb has a wonderful ambience.

There are some really fantastic restaurants, great coffee and love the Rivoli. After living in rented accommodation for several years in Kew and Hawthorn East the time came for us to finally buy a house.

We were keen on Kew and Hawthorn. However, we found that when we liked a house and school, we didn’t like the street and lack of transport and lacks of shops nearby. In other words we couldn’t find a house that ticked ALL our boxes. So we decided to look at Camberwell. Can’t ever imagine how we overlooked this gem of a suburb! Seriously, I doubt any other suburb offers so much – fantastic houses, large blocks of land, transport – 3 rail stations for 1 suburb, trams, shops, parks, lots and lots of tree lined streets, one of the best state primary schools in Victoria, SAFE – close to the CBD – the list is endless.

I have to say all this comes at a price and houses are very expensive. BUT, it offers the best value for money as no other suburb in my opinion comes a close second when you are fussy and have pages of boxes to tick! Camberwell is a great suburb for families and young couples with close proximity to schools, shops and public transport. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. I thoroughly enjoy living in Camberwell and would highly recommend it to anyone.

We have just moved to the area and we are all absolutely loving it. It is just so peaceful! Yet so much to do with everything at our fingertips. The people are extremely friendly, and very welcoming. My girls have settled in and loving their new lives. The local school Auburn Primary is fantastic! Not to mention the parks and sporting facilities Oh and of course – the shopping is brilliant! Hi guys, being in the Roof Restoration industry I travel around quite a bit.

I spend much time in Camberwell and find it to be a lovely suburb. It is green and peaceful, and it has great little shops that are close by no matter what part of camberwell you are in. The houses all have individual charm. Cheers, Phil. It seems affluence is sought for but not obtained here, everyone is a wanna-be but not there yet!

Courtesy is near non existent, on the roads, in shops, carparks, on footpaths and as a mother with a pram and toddler everywhere I go, it’s more obvious to me than others I suspect. Heaps to do with children and access with public transport excellent. I would have to agree with you. My husband and I purchased a house in Hawthorn East in and we border on Camberwell and I must say I have never in my life come across an area so full of rude obnoxious people.

It is mainly populated by crusty old cardigan wearing anglosaxons and seriously lacks in good restaurants and cafes, is full of garbage overpriced shops, lacks in ethnic diversity, class and has an overall dull vibe.

We are a young professional couple with a little one and and we are constantly asked if we are renting? The assumption seems to be that one must be a daggy redneck pretending to be rich I guess to live in such an ‘exclusive’ part of town. We grew up in Hawthorn in which unlike camberwell, the truly affluent reside and people seem to be so much friendlier and tolerant. Wouldn’t recommend Camberhell I am very sorry to hear of your unfortunate experience in Camberwell Polly It is not the most pleasant suburb in my view in terms of people and amenities.

I was on Burke road with my mother and the vibe was one of ostracization, hostility etc I had coffee in Toorak village once, drove through Monomeath avenue and Mont Albert road Canterbury and have been through Hawthorn and Hawthorn East for a friend’s birthday celebration- in hindsight, they are the best suburbs in terms of genuine hallmarks of true affluence and success as opposed to fake wannabe wealth and being a showoff, thankyou Orangebear.

People consistently state that Toorak is the most unpleasant place, I say the exact opposite. It has stability, structures in place and beautiful architecture and the people are OK. Those who dislike Toorak people in my view come from Camberwell- pathetically jealous and try to copy their successes without fruition. What a total piece of dull moronic residents they are in It is not.

Camberwell is a great suburb right in the heart of the Eastern suburbs. Nestled in between Hawthorn, Canterbury and Kew, it is the suburb of choice for many people living in Melbourne. Not quite as expensive as Canterbury, Camberwell offers a great lifestyle for growing families and many single renters. Shopping is surprisingly good for a suburb in the location, with the Burke Rd shops being redeveloped recently with a JB-HiFi, Borders books and many more.

There are also some fantastic restaurants in the area, especially in Camberwell Junction. Houses can be very expensive in certain parts however, and therefore the demographic is generally wealthier people.

As I mentioned previously it is great for raising a young family as it is also so close to some of the best schools in Melbourne. You can’t go wrong here Highly recommended. Camberwell has great public transport and it IS improving. So go green and use it. Families do not need two cars in this area. Surrounded by beautiful period homes, tree lined streets and serviced by amazing shopping strips, convinient transport, top-of-the-list schools.

Is Camberwell a safe suburb? Camberwell is a sophisticated and prestigious suburb with astonishing vintage treelined streets, desirable homes, and a lovely, hilly shopping strip. There are some nice parks close by making it a good spot for those with pets or children. Auction: Sat 17th Dec. The main shopping area can get quite congested and the train ride feels long into the city due to a lot of stops.
